What are the scanning specifications?
Image resolution is of crucial importance to the success of a PixelPainting. To ensure our digital artists can achieve the best results your scanned photo file hould be submitted at an image resolution of 1600x1200 pixels or higher. Save the file as a high quality jpeg, ensuring the file is smaller than 4Mb in size, before using the upload page to send it to us.

How is a PixelPainting Portrait Created?
Our artists first analyze your photo and apply any clean up and sharpening filters considered necessary. Then the chosen style filter (developed from digital photography and traditional art media techniques) is applied and adjusted. The chosen frame is attached and the finished PixelPainting is dispatched to the customer by email. The finished PixelPainting portrait rivals the artistry and talents of a skilled sketch artist. However, what would take weeks to accomplish and cost hundreds of dollars, with a traditional media artist, we deliver to you in less than 5 working days.

Do you ever reject a photo?

Which Photos work best?
It is very important to choose a good photo as a portrait source. Ensure the photo is sharp, crisp and in focus. There should be good contrast with clear facial features. The most common mistake is to send a photo where the subject's face fills just a fraction of the picture. For our digital artists to achieve the best results the face should take up at least one third of the photo. Head and shoulders shots with good facial details and high contrast work really well.
